The Sims & The Sims 2 Legacy Collection Reveal Trailer Is A Trip Down Memory Lane

Over on the official The Sims YouTube channel they’ve just released a The Sims & The Sims 2 Legacy Collection Reveal Trailer to celebrate the rerelease of the first two major entries (and their expansions) in the 25-year old series.

We previously reported that buttons to purchase both of the legacy editions had briefly gone live online — which had in itself confirmed long-running rumours that they’d launch for the upcoming 25th Anniversary — however we didn’t expect both legacy collections, and the combined collection, to go live quite so soon.

Anyway, if you want to learn more about the two of them, and the combined pack, then we have an article breaking down the contents (including that The Sims 2 bundle includes a Sims 4 Grunge Revival Kit). We’re here to talk about the fantastic trailer that’s just dropped.

The Sims & The Sims 2 Legacy Collection Reveal Trailer is pure fan service

It wasn’t so long back that everybody was very quick to accuse Maxis owners Electronic Arts of simply being out there to chase a quick buck, however it’s incredibly clear that there’s some truly massive fans of The Sims still at the company based on the amazing checklist of references that are jammed into the new trailer. There’s everything there from Grim lifting out the ladder — a famed way of killing your Sims — through to the fantastic dancefloor music and that cursed, miserable clown.

I am, however, happiest to see exactly how many times they managed to sneak the burglar into a shot in the trailer. It’s been a long time since I’ve thought about my earliest memories of The Sims (which revolve around a burglar stealing my fire alarm followed by dreadful, dreadful house fires) however seeing them in motion brought it coming right back.

There’s a lot to love there, including some of the fantastic cut-aways between game footage and live-action footage: The goofy, birthday dance being my absolute favourite.

The Sims & The Sims 2 Legacy Collection are available now. Make sure to stay tuned on the site for more coverage of the The Sims 25th Anniversary.
