After what’s seemed like endless speculation, leaks, and from-the-horse’s-mouth information, the official gameplay trailer for The Sims 4’s Businesses & Hobbies expansion is finally here. We’ll cover everything in the video with a fine comb later. But, for now, let’s go over some of what there is to look forward to when the expansion arrives on March 6th.
Before we tuck into all the juicy details, check out the video, which you can see below. Watched it? Great, let’s chat about the Businesses & Hobbies gameplay. As with the last Sims 4 teaser trailer, pottery features heavily. This time it shows off the in-depth customisation available for your clay-based creations. Not only that, but anything unfortunate enough to get broken is repairable once you become highly skilled at pottery. And if you become a clay God, you can run classes to pass on your knowledge. Of course, how much you earn depends on the quality of your teaching. No pressure.
Beyond that, we saw the business side of the expansion too. As we know, you can turn your hobby into a good earner if you’re willing to put the time in. You also have multiple options for getting started. You can run your business from your Sims’ home in a small business residential lot or a small business venue lot.
Both variants have preset and custom configurations that allow you to tweak the logo, business name and even the types of customers you’d like to attract. Then, as your new empire grows, you’re able to hire up to three employees and set their wages, giving them pay rises as you continue to flourish. Similarly, you can choose whether your business charges customers by the hour or through a set entry fee. Of course, you’ll have to consider customer feedback if you want to succeed.
The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies gameplay trailer was jam-packed with new details
Keeping them happy will earn you small-business perks. They include the ability to bargain with customers to get rare collectibles. Or you could commit arson to snag the insurance money if your latest business venture is going south. However, be careful when using these perks as they can affect your personal and professional relationships.
You can pre-order the Businesses & Hobbies expansion pack ahead of its March 6th release on the official website. It’ll set you back £34.99. Additionally, if you buy it before April 18th, you’ll snag some extra goodies.

For Stephen, the best way to escape the stresses and strains of real life is by helping his Sims battle through them. Do as I say, not as I do, my little friends.
