You can turn The Sims 4 into almost anything you want it to be with the right downloadable content. Official DLC come in all different sizes, from Expansions like Businesses & Hobbies to Creator Kits made up of shiny new Build/Buy items. Until Kits came around in 2021, Stuff Packs were the smallest type of official DLC you could get. They mostly focus on hyper specific parts of life, like letting your Sims get their hands dirty doing laundry or hosting the perfect party.
What Are Stuff Packs?
Stuff Packs are small sets of DLC for The Sims that revolve around a particular theme. They’re usually mostly made up of Create-a-Sim and Build/Buy Mode items, with a couple of smaller gameplay elements tied in. This can include new skills, aspirations, interactable items, or lot types. Things like new worlds to Sim types are usually reserved for larger add-ons, like Expansions.
The Sims 2 was the first generation of The Sims to introduce Stuff Packs, with titles like Family Fun Stuff and, bizarrely, H&M Fashion Stuff. Since then, they’ve been an integral part of the franchise’s extra add-ons. They’ve even evolved a fair amount throughout the lifespan of The Sims 4. Early add-ons like Luxury Party and Perfect Patio focussed mostly on aesthetic items, without adding much in the way of gameplay. More recently, they’ve shifted gears towards game mechanics instead, including crystal magic and a career in Paranormal Investigation.
